This paper describes the development of a new healthcare model to address the detection and prevention of cervical cancer for Aboriginal women in a regional centre in NSW that serves women from a wide catchment area. It examines the use of a nurse practitioner-led model in an outreach context and also as a way of reducing barriers to access for a service. The paper demonstrates how the strength of healthcare partnerships can be the foundation upon which significant barriers in accessing services are addressed.

This paper evaluates the effectiveness of an approach to responding to the need of under-resourced communities by developing the Capability of the diabetes education workforce – specifically clinical skills, confidence to apply them in community practice, and develop supportive connections with colleagues that support their retention.

This paper examines Rural Health Pro, a digital platform addressing health disparities in rural areas. A qualitative study found the platform helps health professionals with professional development and peer connection. It was seen as a way to enhance capability and reduce professional isolation.

This paper uses survival analysis to identify factors associated with rural and remote Australian family physician turnover. It found a higher turnover risk in remote locations and for non-Australian trained physicians. The study suggests policy should consider population size, not just geographic remoteness.
